Poetry Contest

Please include  your address in the same email your poems are submitted in. You must include your address before poems can be entered in the contest. This saves us a lot of  time.

• Winner will  be notified by email  within two weeks after the contest has ended.
• The Winner of our contest will be announced on our homepage.
• The winning poem will be published on our site.
• A beautiful Blue Ribbon will  be sent out  to the winner!
  
• Runners up will receive either a Red Ribbon or a White Ribbon
  

Guidelines

• Anyone can enter. 
  
• Author retains Copyright
• You may send 2 entries for the contest. Please include them in one email.
• Send as Microsoft Word Document.
• No word limit but use wisdom
• Only Christian poems will  be considered
• Please do NOT send other people's work.
• Poems must  be your own original work.
• Previous winners of our contest may enter again but ONLY with material never before submitted,of course.

TIPs

Most of you write so well, and are so talented, that  its actually hard to pick a winner. There is nothing like a poem with a great subject and reads well. But, if you feel like you need a little help, below are some tips.

•  Plan your poem. Your poem should be well thought out and drawn up to make what you are saying clear. Just as an Architect draws up plans for each new building he designs, so should it be with poetry. Draw up your plan and stick with it. If you do  need to make changes to your poem, make sure those changes still goes along with the original subject you started out with. (some people get off track)
•  Make sure your poem flows well when being read. Some poems are just so hard to read. There will be 4 lines that rhyme and then 6 more that don't.Poems don't have to rhyme, but if you start it rhyming you need to keep it rhyming. Don't change plans in the middle of building your poem.
• Do not put lines in your poem that obviously do not belong. If it doesn't fit, leave it out.
• We writers have a tendency to overstate what we're trying to say. For a poem to flow smoothly we need to be careful not to get carried away with over explaining ourselves.
