Do you know your spiritual gift(s)? Are you utilizing them? Another responsibility of a person who is getting real in their relationship with God is to "act." What better way can we show our appreciation to God than to serve? He has gifted each Christian with at least one spiritual gift. In Romans 12 we are instructed to use the gift we have been given for the good of the body which is the church. It is our responsibility to discover our gift – if you have not done so, speak to your pastor about obtaining a spiritual gifts inventory. When you have identified your gift, begin to plug into that area. You must know that if you fail to do your part, the whole body suffers.
Be careful, however, to not see this work as earning you favor with God or earning your salvation.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Ephesians 2:9-10 NIV
Salvation is through our faith in His grace. We do not work for that; we believe and accept. However, as has been stated before, if being saved was all there was to our Christian life, we would just "beam up" immediately. Why are we still here? God has prepared us to do good works. These works are to enlarge His Kingdom by witnessing to others and to enrich our fellow Christians with our spiritual gifts.
Therefore, act!
Get busy doing His work, and you will get in on another facet of getting real in your Christian walk.
