Quotes and Short Teachings

Hello everyone. We haven't updated the site in a while, but I am excited to be back. I have been very busy but hopefully I can get back into the swing of things. Pray for all of us here at the magazine.
God has been dealing with me lately. The other day He said, just because you disagree with something doesn't mean it is evil. I have this idea that if I don't agree with something, then surely it must be wrong. But, we can't go around being critical of everything all the time. This scripture comes to mind, 1 Thess. 5:21. "Prove all things, hold fast to that which is good." If something is evil, stay away from it. But, sometimes, the things we are so critical of are merely trivial and are forgivable and forgettable. We need to lighten up on things that don't matter.

Joy Through the Storm

The doctor’s office I go to has its own pharmacy, and one day recently I was standing in line to pick up a prescription. I glanced over and noticed the usual security guard. He has been working there for several years; a quiet but friendly man named Fred in his late fifties, sporting a classic 1980’s mustache.
He usually just sits in the corner watching patients come and go, never doing much but always calling out, “Have a nice day!” when people are on their way out. I often have often wondered if he is bored at his post. I mean, after all…he doesn’t actually do anything!
As I waited for my turn at the pharmacy window, a young couple came in with an adorable, curly haired tot around two years old. They sat down in the waiting room, and the child clearly looked miserable. Suddenly, Fred got up and approached the little family. Read more...
Leigh's Spiritual Garden

It has now been going on 2 years that I have been living in pain. The pain started out a little jab here and a little jab there in my hip area.
Of course, I went to my doctor and all she did was to order X-rays and put me on a narcotic painkiller. That was February of 2014. She left her position the very next day.
All the X-rays showed, I was told by a phone call, was I had arthritis.
No one in her practice would prescribe me the refill, due to the fact it was a narcotic. Making a long story short I was able to “wean” myself of this drug.
However, the pain continued on and finally my new doctor prescribed this medicine again, only in smaller doses. I was then, eventually sent to a pain management doctor who is fantastic.Read More...
Tell your mountain—
be thou cast into the sea

Personal faith is, well, just that. It’s personal. Our kids grow up learning “Jesus Loves Me” and the Golden Rule. We teach them to say their prayers and be thankful. We are thrilled when our little concrete thinkers mature to the abstract and begin applying Bible truth. We love it when we see our kids make great choices based on what they know God wants. Their faith is on the move as they begin to understand the character of God. But faith doesn’t become personal until they hit a wall and must move from concepts to experience. Read more...

The morning was bright and sunny but cold as we boarded the local transportation van. We were on our way to a local salvage yard in search of a replacement for my wife’s vehicle. After a brief ride we arrived at our destination and began shopping through the used vehicles searching for the right car for the right price. My morning seemed to be proceeding nicely supported by continual answers to prayer, and then it happened. We had decided on a small escort wagon, but its cost was more than what we had in hand. I asked the salesman if he would accept less so the cost and fees would slip into our budget (I have never been good at haggling) and he answered that he would write a lower price on the bill of sale to help keep the taxes lower. Being so excited about our find, I did not pay attention to the Holy Spirit when he alerted me about this seemingly harmless adjustment to the transaction. Read more...
