I was so very excited…my boyfriend was coming over to our home to see me! He had been on the USS Enterprise during the Cuban Missile Crisis and I was so happy in my heart God had kept him safe.
Mama called, “You better hurry up and come on down here, Mel is here.”
“Oh Wow, I thought…I better hurry up and get downstairs.” Stopping to check in the mirror that I looked “good” to my own approval, I then ran down the stairs as fast I could.
Being so excited, I was looking to my left, toward the kitchen, as I neared the bottom of the stairs and saw the “love of my life,” sitting at the table.
Instead of paying much attention to what I was doing, I ran into the wall of the living room and smacked my self on the right side of my face!
Of course, Mama screamed, Mel ran to my rescue and I sat there on the floor crying. What a “welcome home Mel had that day!
Have you ever been so excited you just really did not think what you are doing? Well, I think we all have things like that happen in our lives.
So, that is when we realize that we can sometimes fall short of taking care of ourselves. I praise God that I was not hurt that day and all turned out well.
Yes, I laugh about this once in a while as I imagine, in my mind’s eye, how funny this would have seemed to others if they had been watching such an episode on tv today. It truly was not funny at the time, however.
God was there to protect me from harm…He knew a young girl sometimes does not always think about the consequences of the things she chooses to do or does without much thought of safety.
God is always there to protect us. Now, sometimes, things do not always work out for us as it did for me, as a young girl, “in love,” but He is always there for us. He protects, He helps us up, when we fall, and He loves us.
Did I learn my lesson about “not thinking” before running into things? The answer is “NO!” I ran into a Police Call box in Wichita, KS in 1963 when I was 18 because I was not looking, again. That time I did not fall, but was so very embarrassed, but I was not hurt.
The last time I fell, I fell on our concrete driveway, completely on my whole right side head first. God, again saved me. Interesting how God watches over us, right? That happened when I was 70!
Pretty Blessed Lady and God showed me how to have a bit of humor in all my crazy happenings in my life. Because without finding the humor in life, our path would be very sad, indeed. So Praises be to God for all my experiences because the Holy Spirit walks with us all, all the time!
See you next month and look for the “humor” amongst those sometimes “hurting” experiences in life, because God has you covered!
