You may have wondered why you have had so many trials since you first trusted in the Lord. Well, there is an answer for that. Surrounded on every hand as you are by that which is false, how can you be sure you are a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ if your faith isn’t tested? Your faith, if it is a true saving faith, if it is a heavenly and not a stony ground faith, is the faith that overcomes the world, and that faith is going to stand whatever fiery trial the Lord has appointed, or the world may bring upon you. While certainly not pleasant to the flesh, these trials will prove more valuable than the gold of this world which will ultimately pass away.

May the Lord grant us grace that we may welcome the trials in our lives, realizing that they will reveal to us whether or not we have the faith that endures all things for His sake.

Lord, help me to stand and not to fall
Help me to walk in Christ so tall
Help me to endure trials large and small
Help me daily to give my all.

Reassure me always that I am yours
And allow that which might restore
The knowledge of whose I am and where I’m bound
Separate and apart from this earthly shore …
